Lee Roy Selmon's history combines family football scholarships and community service. First of all, he was brought up with Lucious Semon and his wife Jessie on a farm near Eufala located in Oklahoma as the youngest of the nine children they had. A second reason was he is the youngest of three brothers to play for Oklahoma. The three brothers were all All-Americans. Lucious Jr. Dewey was an All-Star for the whole 1973 season. Lee Roy won the Outland and Lombardi Awards as the nation's most effective lineman. During his three-year tenure as the starting quarterback for Oklahoma and Sooners' starting quarterback, they went 32-1-1 and won two national titles. The third scholarship was awarded to him. He was an National Football Foundation Scholar-Athlete in 1975. Selmon received a degree in education. Fourth-year service in the university Lee Roy devoted ten hours every week for volunteer activities. Then he settled in Tampa after graduation, and played with the Buccaneers for a period of nine years, and made three times all-pro. His career in business began. The year 1988 was the first time he was working as an Account Relation Officer in the First Florida Bank in Tampa. He was employed by the Special Olympics Easter Seals Baptist Church Ronald McDonald House United Negro College Fund South Florida Institute as well as the Black Life Hall of Fame Bowl Committee. In 1982, the Junior Chamber of Commerce recognized Lee Roy as one of the Ten of America's top young men. Lee Roy was 6'2" tall and weighed 265 pounds in the time he played football at college. The year 1975 was the first time he was the captain of the group. He was hired by the University of South Florida in 1993, as assistant director of sports. He has been inducted in the College Football Hall of Fame since 1988. In 1989 the Oklahoma City Chapter National Football Foundation awarded their Distinguished American Award, to Mr. Lucious Selmon and his wife. Henry Bellmon the Governor of Oklahoma presented the award.
